Hello Butler! My name is Alex and I’m an MD/PhD student entering the third year of my PhD in the Molecular Biology department, studying cell signaling and cancer. I grew up in the great state of Minnesota, and did my undergraduate work at Gonzaga University in Washington state, where I studied biology and philosophy and was lucky enough to spend my entire junior year studying abroad in Italy. I then moved to New York to get my Master’s at Columbia University, after which I worked for two years in a cancer biology research lab at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In 2013, I matriculated as an MD/PhD candidate in the joint program run by Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Princeton University. I have since completed the first two years of medical school, and have now spent the last two years here at Princeton. Outside of the lab/classroom, I love music of all genres (and I really mean all genres); in particular I love live music, as I’ve played the guitar since I was 11, and I go to concerts as often as my schedule/budget will allow. I also enjoy traveling, being outdoors, reading, cooking and eating great food, and playing/watching sports. Looking forward to meeting you all!
