Welcome Letter to Families of Class of 2020 from Head of College Nicole Shelton

July 13, 2016

Dear Butler Family:

The Butler College Office Staff and I are delighted that your son or daughter will be affiliated with Butler College during the next four years.  The entire staff of the college works hard to make sure that Butler will serve as a “home away from home” for all of our residents and upperclass affiliates.  Our goal is to foster a close-knit intellectual and social community through a broad range of mentorship, events and activities.  As a four-year residential college, Butler houses approximately 200 first-years, 200 sophomores, and 150 juniors and seniors.  Our beautiful dorms, including Bloomberg, Bogle, Yoseloff, Wilf, the Class of 1967 Hall, the Class of 1976 Hall, and 1915 Hall, are some of the most sought after places on campus, and Wu Dining Hall is the most popular dining facility for lunch and dinner.

Although your son or daughter is the one who will be living in Butler, we consider you a member of the Butler family as well.  Feel free to join us for a meal in the dining hall, attend an art exhibit in our beautiful gallery space, or just stop by the College Office in Wu Hall to say hello.  You can also learn more about Butler and the college staff by visiting our website at butlercollege.princeton.edu.  If you are coming to campus on Saturday, September 3rd for dorm check-in, we look forward to meeting you at the College Welcome for Families at 3:30pm that day, in the Butler College Amphitheatre. This will be an opportunity for you to talk with the Butler staff who will offer your student the support and guidance needed to be successful at Princeton.

If you would like to keep abreast of the weekly activities at Butler, feel free to “like us” on Facebook; we are Butler College - Princeton University.  This provides a great space to feature a Butler “student of the week,” send out happy birthday messages, and post photos from the various academic lectures and social programs at Butler.  It is highly likely that your student will be featured on the page in the next year.

We look forward to meeting and welcoming you soon.

Best regards,

J. Nicole Shelton, Ph.D.
