Dear Butler Seniors,
I hope this last week of finals is off to a good start.
During this week’s reopening of Tigerhub for dropping and adding (see email below), and during the two week “shopping period” for classes (February 6-17), I wanted to remind you that there are special rules that apply to any seniors trying to drop below three courses. A.B. seniors who took four classes in the fall and are at 29 courses or more overall going into the spring are eligible to drop down to two courses in the spring. However, the drop must be done on paper, with my approval signature, as Tigerhub will not allow an online drop below three. Remember as well that there are overall course minimums for senior year: all A.B. seniors must complete a minimum of six courses over two semesters, plus a thesis. A.B. seniors may follow a 3/3 or 4/2 or 2/4 course pattern, but the minimum is six courses completed, regardless of how many extra courses a student may have coming into senior year. B.S.E. students must complete the equivalent of four courses each term. (Please note that B.S.E. independent work counts as a course. A full-year senior thesis, e.g. in CEE, MAE, CBE, or ORFE, that is credited double in the spring may be counted as the equivalent of one course in the fall and another course in the spring.)
Here’s the link for the Course Enrollment Worksheet.
If the course you are dropping is a departmental, the form will also require a departmental approval signature.
No appointment is necessary for securing my approval -- you can bring the form to the Butler office and if I’m not here, just leave it for my approval and we will send it to the Registrar for you. And you only need to file this worksheet if you are dropping below three courses.
BE SURE TO DO ONE FINAL CHECK OF YOUR DEGREE PROGRESS NOW TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOU HAVE FULFILLED ALL UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENTAL, AND DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS.
Best of luck with your remaining finals, keep up the good work on your thesis, and let me know if you have any questions!
