Laura Wooten's passing

Friday, Mar 29, 2019

As our Dining Hall patrons know, Laura Wooten, who worked as a card checker for Butler Dining Hall for 27 years, passed away last weekend at the age of 98.  Our deepest sympathies go out to her family, friends and co-workers.   In addition to her great service to Princeton University, Laura Wooten was believed to be the longest continuously serving poll worker in the United States, having worked as a volunteer at the polls on every election since 1939.  A wonderful profile appeared on the Princeton website at the time of the last election:

A remembrance of Miss Laura has been published on the University website here. It includes a link to a blog where the Princeton community can leave their thoughts.

Funeral arrangements for Laura Wooten have been set.  There will be a viewing on Monday, April 1 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church, 30 Green Street, in Princeton.  Funeral services will be held at the Princeton University Chapel on Monday, April 1, 2019 beginning at 2 pm.  Her obituary can be viewed here.

Our thoughts are with the Wooten family at this difficult time.
