Dear Butler AB First Years,
(BSE first years, please refer to the instructions sent to you by the School of Engineering.)
The time is almost upon us to choose courses for Fall 2016. The Butler first year advising period for ABs will be from Monday, April 17 to Friday, April 28 at 2:00pm. First year course enrollment on TigerHub begins Monday, May 1 at 7:30am and ends Wednesday, May 3. Observe these dates carefully, as there is a $10.00 per day late penalty for selecting courses.
MAKING AN APPOINTMENT
Use the online scheduler to arrange a time to meet with your faculty adviser. After you log in, click on “make an appointment” and search with your adviser’s name. If your adviser’s appointments aren’t listed, please contact him or her directly.
- your adviser can approve your course schedule, so be certain not to miss your appointment. If for any reason you cannot make the appointment, notify your adviser in advance and reschedule the meeting. If you have forgotten your adviser’s name, look on TigerHub; it should be listed in your Student Center.
I also encourage you to talk with any of the Butler Peer Academic Advisers: they are happy to get e-mails from first years, and have lots of great advice.
ACADEMIC PLANNING FORM
Before you meet with adviser, you must submit yourAcademic Planning Form (see below) electronically to your adviser. Once you send a plan from the course planner to your queue those courses will appear in the APF, and you’ll have to fill out the rest of the information. It is NOT sufficient to fill out only your course planner.
Even though your adviser will indicate approval of your APF electronically, you must have a face-to-face advising conversation with your adviser before he/she will do so. Be sure to give yourself time to complete your academic planning form BEFORE your advising appointment, and come to your meeting prepared to discuss your general academic plans as well as specific course selections.
Your APF will be approved by your adviser via an adviser checkbox following your appointment. You can verify for yourself that this box has been checked by logging into TigerHub and going to your APF. The Academic Planning Form must be approved by your AB adviser no later than 2:00 p.m. April 28. If your adviser has not indicated approval and confirmed that you met by checking the box on the electronic APF, a hold will be placed on your online course enrollment when it begins on Monday, May 1 at 7:30am.

April 6 Course Offerings available on the Office of the Registrar’s website.
April 18-28 This is your advising period. You must sign up for an appointment to see your adviser. Be sure to complete your Academic Planning Form (accessible through TigerHub) prior to the meeting with your adviser so that you and your adviser can discuss your academic plans during your face to face meeting.
April 28 2:00 p.m. -- Deadline for adviser approval of your completed Academic Planning Form. Students who do not comply with this deadline will be placed on Adviser Hold.
May 1 First year course selection period begins on TigerHub at 7:30am. You may enroll in courses approved by your adviser beginning on this date.
May 3 Deadline for first years to select fall-term courses without charge. The penalty for late selection is $10 per day, and late freshmen must submit a signed Academic Planning Form in person to the Registrar’s Office.
May 22 – 26 TigerHub website reopens during the second week of final exams to allow course changes.
